Head of the Service D. Marcinkė Participated in an International Conference in Amsterdam

On February 26–27, 2026, an international conference titled 2026 Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Conference “What’s next in the regulatory landscape for generic medicines?” took place in Amsterdam. The event was attended by the Head of the Service, D. Marcinkė, who presented the national medicines agency’s perspective on selected issues.

The conference was held at a particularly important time—following decisions on the European Union pharmaceutical legislative package—when both regulators and industry stakeholders are facing the planning of implementation and adaptation phases. The event addressed upcoming changes in pharmaceutical regulation, digitalization processes, and new requirements related to responsibilities for institutions and pharmaceutical companies. Representatives of patients and pharmaceutical professionals also expressed their positions.

The discussions involved representatives of European regulatory authorities, experts from the pharmaceutical industry, and officials from European institutions. The conference focused primarily on the direction of the pharmaceutical legislative review, critical medicines and biotechnology acts, as well as EU competitiveness and security of medicine supply, among other topics. Practical issues related to medicinal product lifecycle management were also examined, including the implementation of variation regulations, digitalization, the future of the ASMF certification process, pharmacovigilance signal management, and the impact of horizontal environmental legislation on the pharmaceutical sector.
