Partners of the EU Twinning Project in Ukraine met at the SMCA to discuss the progress of the project and further activities
The State Medicines Control Agency of Lithuania, together with its partners from Poland and Germany, launched the European Union (EU)–funded Twinning project “Support the establishment of the State Control Authority for medicines and medical devices” in Ukraine in October 2025. The objective of the project is to support Ukraine in strengthening its regulatory system for medicines and medical devices and in enhancing public health protection by establishing an independent State Control Authority (SCA) operating in line with European Union good practices.
In the framework of the project, the second Steering Committee Meeting was held on 28 January 2026 at the Agency. During the meeting, experts from Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, and Germany reviewed the progress of the project and agreed on the next steps.
During the meeting:
- the project progress in line with the approved work plan was endorsed,
- the results achieved during the first three months were reviewed, and the main challenges and potential risks were identified,
- a financial overview of the project implementation was presented,
- communication-related updates were reviewed,
- further project actions were agreed, including the planned expert missions, trainings, deliverable deadlines, needs for expert resources, and possible amendments to the work plan.
The participants confirmed the overall direction of the project and once again emphasized the importance of international cooperation in strengthening Ukraine’s regulatory system in line with European Union standards.
